Questions

How much can I claim for a delayed bag?+

Reasonable, documented interim expenses (toiletries, clothing, chargers) up to the airline's liability limit. US domestic limits are set by 14 CFR Part 254 and adjusted for inflation; international limits are set in Special Drawing Rights under the Montreal Convention.

What is the deadline for an international delayed-bag claim?+

Under Article 31 of the Montreal Convention, a written complaint for delay must be made within 21 days of the bag being delivered, and within 7 days for damage. Send your letter as early as possible.

Do I get my checked bag fee back?+

Under 14 CFR Part 260, airlines must refund checked-bag fees when a bag is significantly delayed. The letter requests that refund separately.
